Application for the authorization of examination with respect to a single doctorate




GAUSS members

Members of GAUSS are scientists authorized to examine within the faculty and additional programs of the Georg-August-University School of Science. More details can be found in the GAUSS regulations (§6 Abs.2, §7, §10 Abs.4) and the framework rules of examination (§11). Therefore, all persons holding the authorization for examination at one of the five founding faculties are members of GAUSS. Additionally, accredited persons from non-university institutions and associated faculties as listed below are members of GAUSS.

Based on an application form for the authorization of examination, the admittance of new members is decided upon by the GAUSS board (see left column).

According to the board resolution from January 1st 2006 and June 9th 2009, the following criteria are valid:

The authorization for examination can be delegated to persons who: Passed a call-like procedure for a field of mathematics or natural sciences or at least independently supervised three finalized doctorates in the field of mathematics or natural sciences and raised their own third-party funds.
